Instead of hit
and miss paddling through record bins, let Classic Tracks hosts, John
Clayton and Robin
Weatherall help you explore rich and rare, as well as standard
classical repertoire material. Co-host and show producer Robin
Weatherall gives the show a special "spin" by including attractive material
that is off the beaten path. Composers, groups or repertoire deserving a wider
audience are worked into Classic Tracks that would not otherwise get played if
the show had its focus only on the mainstream or on record labels per se. Robin
chooses music played on Classic Tracks from his titanic 12,000 piece plus
collection of CD's (larger than CLASSIC99's). A couple of days before the show,
Robin determines the theme or direction to be taken, and picks recordings to
fit. Special attention is given occasionally to performers who are
about to play concerts in St. Louis or to internationally famous performers,
who have their roots in St. Louis, for example, pianists Edith Jakoby.
Emphasis is also given to recordings of local groups and orchestras, like the
recently formed Saint Louis Brass Band, the Laclede String
Quartet, The Saint Louis Brass Quintet, or large, established groups
like the St. Louis Chamber Chorus and the Saint Louis Symphony
Orchestra. |
