Family Facts & Fun
CLASSIC99 is proud to be "giving back" to the community that supports it. We have programs (both "on-air" and "off-air") designed to reach out to young people who might not be acquainted with classical music.

FYI:
» Study of music is helped by music appreciation. The lessons enhance students' musical skills and improve study skills that carry over into other school subjects.
» "…[T]here is a direct correlation between improved SAT scores and the length of time spent studying the arts. Those who studied the arts four or more years scored 59 points higher on verbal and 55 higher on math portions of the SAT than students with no coursework or experience in the arts." (Profiles of SAT and Achievement Test Taker, The College Board, compiled by MENC, 1995)
» "…family education level and income are strong predictors of student performance in school. But the study (Champions of Change) found that students from families at the lower end of the socioeconomic range are more likely to earn As and Bs in English than students at the higher end-if the disadvantaged students are immersed in the arts and the more affluent students have little arts involvement." (Richard Riley, U.S. Secretary of Education)
